Blizzard has published the December report on all about Diablo 4. The studio releases them every quarter, talking about the development of a new numbered part of the series. This time, game designers presented a new look at items and skills, and also demonstrated gameplay cuts.
Legendary and unique items will continue to be an important part of character gear in Diablo IV, but key stats will appear on items for different slots. Build customization will become more subtle: there will be properties that increase the level of skill, glyphs and an improvement table.
Blizzard is also putting a lot of thought into the skill visual system for different classes. Each character has a unique feature that game designers want to highlight, including through animation. Weapons enhanced with different properties will also have different effects on enemies. The full report in Russian is available on the official website.
At the start of the year, Blizzard noted that fans shouldn't expect Diablo IV to release before 2022, but did not provide a more precise release window for the game. In August, against the background of the scandal, the chief game director of the title, Luis Barriga, left the studio. He was replaced by Joe Shealy, who worked as a game systems designer for Diablo III: Reaper of Souls and World of Warcraft.
